Current DBT Groups

DBT Groups are for Everyone

DBT is an empirically-supported treatment that has been shown to be effective for those struggling with anxiety, depression, Bipolar Disorder, eating disorders, suicide thoughts, self-harm behaviors, anger management and PTSD.  The main modality of DBT treatment is for clients to join a skills group while also seeing an individual therapist.  The combination of the group and individual work has proven to be most effective in re-training the brain and learning new coping mechanisms.

DBT Skills Training Groups are for clients who would like to cope more effectively with intense emotions, addictive behaviors, and/or relationship struggles. Mindfulness, Interpersonal Effectiveness, Emotion Regulation, and Distress Tolerance skills are taught to reduce self-destructive behaviors and learn more adaptive ways to manage painful emotions.

Jennifer Wu is the only DBT intensively trained therapist in Texas who offers DBT Advanced Groups with curriculum that she created over a period of 6 years after seeing the need her clients had to continue gaining consistency, practice, and accountability in using the new coping skills after gradating the DBT skills groups. These groups and new advanced level worksheets provide a way for clients to deepen skill application, prevent relapse, and increase confidence in applying skills in new situations and environments.

Due to having multiple DBT Skills Groups and DBT Advanced Groups, Jennifer is able to place clients in groups with similar issues, goals, and life stage.  Group members often report greater ease and comfort in sharing and stronger cohesiveness in the group being with others with similar issues.   To learn more about the structure of these groups and what they offer, visit dbtgroupsaustin.com.
